My college graduation is impending. That is one scary thought! At 20 years old, I am still a baby in the eyes of many, but am also an adult to others. What an interesting position to be in. I will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in English language and literature and then continuing my education to receive a teaching credential. Then, I'll have to start job searching and then I'm set for life. Wow, did I mention that this is all pretty scary? Because it definitely is.
It's funny how there are so many expectations after graduation, how it is supposed to be a magical, coming of age event in our society that transitions kids to adults. But guess what? I don't think it works that way. I think that I will still wake up that next morning and contemplate having ice cream for breakfast and waste my day watching Law and Order. It might be because I am younger than most college grads or it may be because I am nuts, or maybe a little bit of both!
Here's are just a few things I don't think will change:
1. Ice cream as a viable meal option.
2. TV marathon days instead of being "productive"
3. Procrastinating what has to be done by baking and sewing.
4. ...producing the best work when I procrastinate
And the things that will change:
1. Sleeping in an extra 30 minutes instead of getting "ready"
2. The frequency of TV marathon days
3. Spending money on unnecessary items.
4. Dressing like a hobo.*
*I think I'm most excited about not dressing like a hobo anymore because that means shopping for flats, cardigans and teacher clothes!
