30 Minute Kimono
Make looking fabulous effortless by Brittany Zago

Picture
Fall is here and that can only mean one thing! It's almost Christmas! Kidding, kidding. Even though I'm not. I am completely obsessed with Christmas and everything that comes along with it, including handmade gifts.

I love giving everyone cute handmade gifts, but that can be time consuming.

This Christmas everyone is getting kimonos from me. They only take about 30 minutes to make and can be worn year round, turning any drab outfit to one that is completely *FAB* In this tutorial,

I will take you step by step on how to make this adorable fashion statement. The hardest part is deciding what fabric to use!
Step one:
Cut a piece of fabric 48 inches by 60 inches. Warning: I have a hard time cutting straight lines. I try to line my fabric up with the lines of the hardwood floor or the lines on the tile in my kitchen to ensure I cut kind of straight. Oops.

Step two:
Sandwich the fabric in half with right sides facing each other (making it 48 inches by 30 inches) and pin both sides all the way up, leaving a 9 inch opening at the top where the fabric folds. The openings will be your armholes.

**Make sure to leave 9 inches open at the top**

 Step three:
Sew up both sides (leaving the 9 inches open). When I sew, my mind goes to other worlds apparently, because without fail, I almost always end up sewing all the way up. Then, I curse myself while spending half an hour picking out the stitches for the armhole.

Step four:
Fold the already sandwiched fabric in half again. Cut all the way up ONE of the layers of fabric (which will be the front opening).

Step five:
Flip the kimono right side out and enjoy.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'm glad to help clear up any confusions.
