Nothing is more fun and flirty than lace. Nothing, I tell you! I wish all things were made out of lace! Life would be less dull. Don't believe me? Make one of these bad boys and slip it under your clothes. I guarantee that you will rock the day away! Wearing lace is such a confidence booster! What's even better than feeling confident? Making it yourself and for such a cheap amount of money.

Once you learn how, you will never want to stop sewing them! And, if you show your friends, they'll want you to make them some too. Boy, are you going to be busy!

To make these, you will need: pretty (preferably stretchy) lace fabric, thin elastic and thread. Pins and a sewing machine help too! Save and print out the pattern below. This fits my size, a b/c cup. Adjust if you need it larger or smaller. If you are adjusting the pattern, you might want to do a test run on some less pretty fabric. I wouldn't, because I'm a rebel, which probably explains the yards of fabric I've wasted over the years. In fact, I should probably encourage you to do a test run.. but I won't stop you, fellow rebels. Cut out the pattern, fold your fabric in half and pin the pattern to the scalloped or prettier edge of your fabric. Cut it out! By folding the fabric in half, you don't have to stay there and cut out the multiple of the pattern pieces. I do it that way because I am lazy. The fold method doesn't always produce the most accurate cuts, but it gets the job done. If you're particular, pin, cut and repeat until you have your 4 pieces. Make sure you have 2 of each pattern pieces.

Once you're at this step, pin the 2 pieces right sides together, so you have 2 similar "cups", if you will. Sew the two together stretching ever so lightly to give it a slight curving.

After that, cut out your elastics. You will need 2 equal strips for your straps and one longer piece to wrap around your body. Depending on if you will be adding a bra clasp, this piece will either need to be able to fully wrap around you, with enough stretch to pull it over over your shoulders when you are putting it on or almost no stretch if you add the clasp. Remember that you can easily take away but that it is almost always harder to add more.
Once you have the correct measurements for your elastic, cut out more lace. The amount you cut is up to you, your measurements and your preferences. For the blue bralette, I cut enough elastic to cover all of the elastic, but for the black bralette, I only cut enough lace to cover the front section. It's up to you! Be creative! In terms of width, I liked mine to be about 5 inches wide so I cut about 5.5 inches in width. You want to cut it a little wider because you are going to fold over the lace to hide the elastic. After sewing the lace onto the elastic, pin the bra top to the elastic, sew and fold over so it is how you want it. Then, simply add the straps, covering in lace if you would like as well.  Experiment, mix and match, try different fabrics, whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful! Throw your pretty bralette on and rock the day.

Let me know if you have any questions!
